The Role
Johnnie-O is looking for an amazing Retail Accountant to join our accounting team on a full-time basis. Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic, a team player, extremely detail-oriented, and committed to ensuring that the retail accounting process runs smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities
- Managing daily transactions to ensure accuracy of sales and related transactions flowing to the company’s ERP
- Monitoring and reconciling inventory records, tracking inventory levels and movement, investigating discrepancies between recorded and physical inventory counts to prevent shrinkage and loss, conducting audits, and ensuring overall inventory accuracy.
- Reconciling bank statements and managing cash flow for retail locations
- Analyze and review sales tax liabilities ensuring timely payments and filing with Avalara and outside CPA firm.
- Preparation of bi-monthly commission statements
- Review “Payout Matrix” for month-end close process and prepare detailed monthly revenue information for our retail partners
- Maintaining accurate general ledger records, preparing journal entries, and reconciling accounts including intercompany transactions.
- Perform necessary journal entries and reconciliations of various accounts to close out the accounting period.
- Working with store managers and other departments to address financial issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Assist Payroll Manager with payroll processes for store employees.
- Assisting in the development and monitoring of store budgets, contributing to financial forecasting.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications
- BS in accounting and/or 2-3+ years of retail accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, knowledge of GAAP, and familiarity with financial reporting analysis, tax, auditing, consolidations, and retail-specific accounting knowledge, and relevant regulations.
- Ability to identify and resolve financial issues and discrepancies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide recommendations.
- Attention to Detail - Ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial transactions and reports.
- Team player - ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other departments in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power BI, and Excel.
- Prior Experience with Full Circle, Blue Cherry or similar ERP a plus.
- Apparel experience a plus.
